Today is Saturday, yes, I know. We had our usual waffles, eggs, and sausage (actually it’s usually bacon but I thought we were out…found some in the freezer later to Corbin’s dismay and disgust!). Then, after chores….we had MORE chores. Karl had to work today and I had to get this house at least somewhat under control! We put laundry away, took books back to their proper shelves, cleared the terribly messy dining room table of all our school-ish ‘stuff’, and I did about 3 loads of laundry…and of course there’s still more. Once I felt we had actually accomplished something (there’s plenty left to do) I allowed the kids to go their merry ways and do as they wished. Logan just had to finish the game he had been playing on the Wii (he was going to actually finish the entire game), Hailey went out to find toads, and Corbin went back and forth between the two. Hailey came in to watch Logan play a while (she can’t play this weekend because she left her remote out yesterday…the consequence for breaking that rule is losing the privilege) but then I told her we really needed to review the rest of her math. GASP! She actually didn’t give me a problem with it….and we got through the rest of the problems she had missed on her recent lessons. The great news is, I think she’s got it and we can now move on in her book on Monday. Yay!
This afternoon, Karl took down the tent. We did have roasted marshmallows, played bocce ball, and talked in the tent a while last night, but Karl ended up coming inside with the kids around 9:30….apparently there are too many lights and airplanes to be able to sleep outside in this ‘city’ of ours! 😉 It was fun though, and Karl didn’t mind…he said it was too hot out there anyway. I took Emma outside a while during the time he was putting the tent and chairs away and sat with her to let her look at the toads Hailey had caught…they were just babies, some really tiny. She absolutely loved it, and even touched them. It was too cute to watch! She did pretty well….we’re trying to teach her to be nice with people and animals. She usually is, but of course when she gets too rough we remove her. It was a fun day, and we got some stuff done.
Now I’m ready to relax….
