De-cluttering, a walk…and swimming

Today was a mixed bag of things. I was up early and had breakfast ready before 8 a.m. Our normal Saturday breakfast is 9 or 9:30. After eating and playing with Emma a bit, Karl and I decided to try to de-clutter the kitchen counters. We got the bar mostly cleared off, some things thrown away, and others put away. While we did this, the older kids were taking turns keeping an eye on Emma and playing video games. After about an hour of this I loaded up all the kids and took them to the library….we’d been needing to go for quite some time. Karl took advantage of our absence and watched College Game Day, which was being recorded at Auburn this week. It was VERY busy at the library today….partly because of an 11 a.m. story time, but even once those families left the main area it was pretty crowded. I think we’ll try harder to stick to our weekday visits. I found several more books on homeschooling that I’ve never read so I’m excited about that. Logan and Corbin each brought home a few books but Hailey was unable to find anything she wanted to read. Really? This library is twice as large as the one we had been frequenting and she couldn’t find anything to read…..I think it was more an attitude issue due to some ‘trouble’ she got into earlier, rather than a lack of books. She’s going to wish she had been less picky next week when she “has nothing to read”. Anyway, it was a good trip for most of us. Emma was well-behaved, so that was a bonus. 😉 After Emma’s nap in the afternoon, we all suited up and walked to the pool. I didn’t really get in but I did sit with my legs in and splashed the water on myself occasionally (it was so hot!) and that was good enough for me. By the time we returned it was time to get dinner ready. Karl actually took care of that, making some yummy cheese and beef dip to eat with corn chips….we did add some fresh veggies and dip on the side to give it a little nutritional value. Emma had a grilled cheese sandwich, peas, diced apples, and milk….eating every bit of it while watching football from her Bumbo. After putting Emma to bed for the night, we all spent the evening reading or watching football….the Auburn game was on at 7 p.m. So, we all learned a little bit of football lingo together….Daddy was the teacher.

Now it’s time to hit the hay…tomorrow is church and some grocery shopping for me.
