I’ve begun reading Guerilla Learning: How to Give Your Kids a Real Education With or Without School by Grace Llewelyn and Amy Silver. It’s very interesting, and I’ve found some quotes I like. Maybe they’ll mean something to you, too.
Education is about the only thing lying around loose in the world, and it’s about the only thing a fellow can have as much of as he’s willing to haul away.~George Lorimer, Letters of a Self-Made Merchant to His Son
It is in fact nothing short of a miracle that the modern methods of instruction have not yet entirely strangled the holy curiosity of inquiry.~Albert Einstein
One never learns to understand truly anything but what one loves.~Johan Wolfgang von Goethe, 18th century German poet
Based on the first 3 chapters, I would recommend reading the book if you are at all desiring to change your home school, or just your learning lifestyle in general. It is actually written for parents whose children attend school, but I thought I could glean some wisdom from it as well.
