Today was the kids’ sports class so that was their morning ‘school’. However, after lunch I did read aloud from Voyage of the Dawn Treader as well as If You Lived 100 Years Ago. We learned about how a few things would be different…sounds, foods, travel, smells. We also read about who lived in NYC and how ‘poor’ and ‘rich’ people lived. Boardinghouses, flophouses, and tenement apartments for the poor. Apparently there were fewer who were considered middle class…the rich were VERY rich and the poor were VERY poor, with few in between. Interesting reading…
Now the kids are all reading various library books. We will spend a bit of time cleaning this afternoon to prepare for the bible study later.
