First day of our new school year….

Some more things learned this week:

  • Corbin can finally tie his shoes…thanks to Sunita, who has actually taught ALL of our shoe-tying children how to tie their shoes! Karl and I are complete failures with teaching that skill. 😦 🙂
  • I installed Elementary Advantage 2008 on the kids’ computer this morning…it covers grammar, science, history, typing, etc. and includes some games too. Corbin mastered nouns, pronouns, verbs, and adjectives in a matter of about 30 minutes! He will need some review, I’m sure, but I’m impressed with how easily he caught on. I think we’ll keep this program.
  • Hailey is done with today’s ‘summer’ school already….she’s upstairs reading in her room….for fun.
  • Hailey’s plant is doing well….the frequent rain this week has helped immensely. I’m looking forward to having some fresh basil in my dishes soon.
Today marks the first day of our new school year. I have a 3rd, 6th, and 8th grader…..the 2 year-old and turning-one-year-old are probably going to keep us on our toes this year. 🙂 Pray for us.

Oh man, teaching the boys to tie their shoes has been sooooo hard. I need Sunita!! Does she have any tricks? We are due for a homeschool email. Though, I have been enjoying our chit chat emails:)

She taught the others to use 'bunny ears'…we tried that with Corbin too. For some reason he couldn't get the last step with pushing the loop through the other loop…..not a problem with her. She never touched him, just told him how to do it. He did it three times in a row….and has been able to do it each time ever since. We begged her to stay and teach our others….maybe she'll be able to come back each time we need her, just for that! LOL She's awesome, and we ARE planning to have her back next summer, hopefully for a full week. What can I get her to teach them then?
