Today’s message at church was about our freedom in Christ. As Christians, He has set us free from bondage. Below are some verses that Pastor Todd mentioned that spoke to me. Hopefully they will mean something to you, as well.
Galatians 5: 1 “Freedom is what we have – Christ has set us free! Stand, then, as free people, and do not allow yourselves to become slaves again.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.”
1 Thessalonians 2:4 “Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.”
I was glad for the confirmation that I am to strive to please God, knowing that I will not always, or even often, please people when I am following Him. Others will question my motives and may even hate me for His name’s sake. Pastor Todd encouraged us to stand firm and to have courage, even if it means we do not have the support of those around us, because our ultimate goal is to bring glory to Him and no other!
A beautiful song we’ve been hearing at church lately:
