Today I received an unexpected call from a friend. Don’t you just love those? Even better, she and her son (my 9 yo’s very close friend!) are driving up for a visit with my friend’s parents, who live very near us! We are so excited and cannot wait for the next two weeks to pass. I’m putting the date on my calendar so we can begin our countdown!
Another unexpected message today…..a check had been stolen that I sent as a donation for a fundraiser. Not cool, right? However, God was able to use the situation to His glory.
I immediately drove to our bank to place a stop-payment on the check, all the while praying that God would help the transaction to be completed quickly (had other plans this could potentially disrupt) as well as asking Him to please not allow the check to have been presented to be cashed yet. I was blessed on both counts. I was in and out of the bank within 10 minutes and the check had not yet been presented. So now, if anyone does cash it, it will be that business’s loss, not mine. I’m hoping that the thief will be caught and that he never will not have even tried to present the check. I don’t want any place of business to suffer a loss. But at least I have done what I can on my end. And God was able to reveal Himself to me yet again in the day-to-day small things. Love that!
I leave you with the following verse, as a reminder to you as well as to myself, that God is sovereign in all things.
Romans 8:26-28 Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.
